陈焰1970年生于杭州，1993年毕业于中国美术学院油画系，并于2002、2009年在该学院获硕士、博士学位；硕士研究生期间获油画人才奖项公派留学俄罗斯列宾美术学院。现为中国美术学院教授、综合绘画系主任、硕士生导师。
作品为中国美术馆、中国三峡博物馆、宁波美术馆、本色美术馆等艺术机构与私人收藏。从1993年至今参加展览40余场，近期主要展览包括：
2021“杭州模式—山水城市” 综合绘画展（杭州大屋顶美术馆）
2020 “大成之境 ”——2020浙江省油画作品展（台州当代美术馆）
2019第十三届全国美术作品展暨第三届中国美术奖作品进京展（中国美术馆）

Chen Yan was born in 1970, Hangzhou, China. She graduated from China Academy of Art, Department of Oil Painting, obtained a master's degree in 2002, and Ph.D. in 2009. During her studies, Chen Yan was awarded the gold medal in the Chinese Youth Oil Painting Artists Award. She was enrolled with government sponsorship in Saint-Petersburg State Academic Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, named after I.E. Repin, in Russia. In 2012, she was a visiting scholar at the California Institute of Arts, the USA. Recently, Chen Yan is a professor, a master's supervisor, and the chief of the Department of Comprehensive Painting in China Academy of Art.
Chen Yan's works were collected by public institutions such as The National Art Museum of China (NAMOC), Chongqing China Three Gorges Museum, Ningbo Museum, True Color Museum, and various private collectors. Since 1993, she has participated in more than 40 exhibitions. Recent major exhibitions include "Hangzhou Mode - City of Lakes & Mountains: Comprehensive Painting Exhibition" in 2021, The Roof Art Space, Hangzhou, China; "Realm of Great Achievements" in 2020, oil painting exhibition Zhejiang, China; Taizhou Contemporary Art Museum, Taizhou, China, in 2020; The 13th National Exhibition of Fine Arts & Exhibition of Nominated Works for Chinese Fine Art Awards "Creative Artworks" in 2019, National Art Museum of China; "Bread of the World International Art Exhibition" in 2019, Dali Matera - La persistenza degli opposti, Italy; "Paper Exchange" in 2019, BayArt Gallery, Cardiff, the U.K.; "Connection of Images" Biennale of Oil Paintings" in 2018, Academy of Art, SPSI Art Museum, Shanghai, China.

Chen Yan nació en 1970 en Hangzhou, China. Se graduó en la Academia de Arte de China, en el departamento de pintura al óleo, y obtuvo un máster en 2002 y un doctorado en 2009. Durante sus estudios, Chen Yan fue galardonada con la medalla de oro en el Premio de Jóvenes Artistas de Pintura al Óleo de China. Se matriculó con el patrocinio del gobierno en la Academia Rusa de Artes. Actualmente, Chen Yan es catedrática, supervisora del máster y jefa del Departamento de Pintura Integral de la Academia de Arte de China.
