I am fascinated with experimenting and searching for new and abstract ways to express through fine art tapestry weaving. I am interested in colour, form, and space, rather than creating realistic images. For the past few years, I have been concentrating on creating woven pieces from recyclable material. Inspired by the cosmos and experimenting with recycled materials (plastic foil, video tape, transparent packing tape, synthetic yarn), I create work that focuses on form, texture, and light. I hope to bring attention to the need to protect the environment and increase self-consciousness...
This tapestry was inspired by the beauty of our world's transition from dusk to night to dawn. That continuous transition from night to day is indeed a weave-like motion of our planet. “Belle Nuit” is composed of two sections connected together to make one whole. The first section is a partially woven manipulated warp, using various materials, which are mostly recycled. The second section is woven on a wheel (a circular warp) using similar materials.
