Motto

I would like my sculpture to be a fleeting sensation stemming from the worlds of biology, machines, and instruments” –From the understanding of sculpture as something heavy, seen from the outside, made of durable materials, I take a line – that speaks with properties of the matter it is derived from (...); Taking meaning from the worlds of biology, machines, and instruments, I analyze the problem of meaning and the absurd. I’m Looking for a Moment of Equilibrium. The results of my explorations are light, delicate structures-objects combining these meanings into a new quality.

EXPLOSION-REDEFINITION, SPACE CRYSTALLIZATION

Title: EXPLOSION-REDEFINITION, SPACE CRYSTALLIZATION

Materials: glass, steel wire

Size: size adjusted to the size of the room, site-specific sculpture

Glass: commercial, technological, harmful for human in direct contact, transparent, changing with light, inspires positive and negative emotions

Metal: technological, heavy, cold, used for construction, perceived as anti-aesthetic

This site-specific artwork attempts to penetrate cultural stereotypes in order to appeal to the universal human emotions. This work invites visitors to the new space created by the artist. The feeling of liberation from mundane existence is replaced by festive almost epiphanic understanding of the world.

This cellophane sculpture was first created for the exhibition “Vertically, horizontally, spatially” Wroclaw in 2012. Since then, the creation became more complex showing more levels of the interior of “Stratification”. Space is marked by the visible crossing lines.

Transparent cellophane is helping to mentally grasp the invisible. Ogorzelec invites the viewer to enter and feel the space from the inside, rather then contemplate it as aesthetic object. Entering this ethereal and ephemeral scenography changes mundane routines and intellectual stereotypes. Ogorzelec is fascinated by the world of physics and mathematical orders, Soft, elastic lines are balancing tensions and fulfill structural goals allowing visitors to safely enter her structures either walking or crawling. Her structures are based on logic, intuition and experience, they are always unique and specially created by herself for each installation. “Stratification” gives visitors an opportunity to participate in the creation of a work of art.
