纸，是王雷艺术创作的重要媒介。他以报纸等纸质印刷品为材料，经过细致而繁复的手工编织，转换成巧夺天工的装置作品，给观众以视觉的惊喜与震撼。他以“织”的方式，开掘了媒介中蕴含的丰富信息资源，将深邃的思想与观念植入作品，给观众以观看的顿悟与觉醒。
王雷的艺术创作暗合了“敬惜字纸”的中华传统，他充分利用了纸质现成品的材质特点与文化属性，从当下生活中捕捉灵感，“把一个个编织的故事讲述的声情并茂”（吕胜中语）。他的作品通过文图线索，时间流连，语言呈现，意境营造，实现了“物”与“心”的合一相通。如《寻找红五星》以田野考察为基础，以“纸”艺术编织成饱含“红五星”精神的老兵戎装系列为主体作品，通过具有历史印痕的军服的“再”展示，表现出前辈军人的独特面貌和家国情怀。而整年度《解放军报》的材料选择，更加强化了作品的寓意空间及其时间性和历史感。《兵者无形》则是一件气场强悍的作品，通过解构与重组古代铠甲的方式，实现了中国古代兵法的现代“解读”。空间的搭建与整合，纸对金属的仿制与属性的矛盾对比，报纸内容与军事纪事的关联，甲衣的防御性质与编织的筹谋含义……形成多元的指向和隐喻，将和平与战争的永恒话题幻化成境界宏阔的视觉范本。

El papel es un medio importante para la creación artística de Wang Lei. Utiliza impresiones de periódicos y otros papeles como materiales y, a través de un meticuloso e intrincado tejido a mano, las transforma en ingeniosas instalaciones, dando al espectador una sorpresa y un impacto visual. Al "tejer", explora los ricos recursos de información que contiene profundos pensamientos y conceptos en sus obras, dando al espectador una epifanía y un despertar de la mirada.
Las creaciones artísticas de Wang Lei aluden a la tradición china de "respetar las palabras y el papel". Aprovecha al máximo las características materiales y los atributos culturales de los productos de papel confeccionados, capta la inspiración de la vida contemporánea y "cuenta una historia tejida de forma viva" (en palabras de Lv Shengzhong). Sus obras hacen realidad la unidad del "objeto" y el "corazón" a través de pistas textuales y gráficas, el flujo temporal, la presentación del lenguaje y la creación de estados de ánimo. Por ejemplo, "En busca de las cinco estrellas rojas" se basa en el trabajo de campo, y la obra principal es una serie de uniformes militares de veteranos llenos del espíritu de las "cinco estrellas rojas" entretejidos con el arte del "papel". A través de la "reexposición" de los uniformes militares con marcas históricas, se expresa la perspectiva única de los antiguos soldados y el sentimiento de familia y país. Selecciona el material gráfico de esos años ,del periódico del Ejército Popular de Liberación, para reforzar el espacio alegórico de la obra, así como su temporalidad y su sentido de la historia. El Soldado Invisible" es una obra poderosa, que realiza una "interpretación" moderna del antiguo arte de la guerra chino mediante la deconstrucción y reorganización de la antigua armadura. La construcción e integración del espacio, el contraste contradictorio entre el papel y la imitación del metal y sus propiedades, la conexión entre el contenido del periódico y la crónica militar, la naturaleza defensiva de la armadura y el significado del tejido ...... forman múltiples puntos y metáforas, transformando el eterno tema de la paz y la guerra en un paradigma visual con un vasto ámbito.

Paper is an essential medium for Wang Lei's art creation. He uses newspaper and other paper prints as materials, and through meticulous and intricate hand weaving and knitting, he transforms them into ingenious installation works, giving the audience a visual surprise and shock. Through the weaving and knitting techniques, he explores the rich information resources in the medium and implants profound thoughts and concepts into his works, giving the audience an epiphany and awakening of viewing.
Wang Lei's artistic creations allude to the Chinese tradition of "respecting words and paper". He uses the material characteristics and cultural attributes of paper ready-made products and captures inspiration from contemporary life. In the Words of Lv Shengzhong, "the artist tells a woven story in a lively way." His works realize the unity of "object" and "heart" through textual and graphic clues, time flow, language presentation, and mood creation. For instance, "In Search of the Red Five Stars" is based on fieldwork, and the main work is a series of veterans' military uniforms full of the spirit of "Red Five Stars" knitted with the art of "paper". The unique outlook of the former soldiers and the feeling of family and country are expressed through the "re-display" of the military uniforms with historical marks. The choice of materials, the one-year edition of the PLA newspapers, reinforces the allegorical references of the work and its temporality and sense of history. The Invisible Soldier" is a powerful artwork, which realizes a modern "interpretation" of the ancient Chinese art of war by deconstructing and reorganizing the ancient armor. The construction and integration of space, the contradictory contrast of paper to metal imitation and properties, the connection between newspaper content and military chronicle, the defensive nature of the armor and the meaning of weaving and knitting form multiple points and metaphors, transform the eternal topic of peace and war into a visual paradigm with a vast realm.
